The yerba mate loose leaf is an instant brew when consumed in the gourds. Waiting for 5/10 seconds before sipping may give a stronger brew though. So what are you waiting for? Put some yerba mate lose leaf insert your bumble, pour some hot water and sip!

Our traditional wooden cups are around 120 ml. they are perfect for a small Mate brew (10-15grams). Filling your gourd halfway would be around 10/15grams and would give you refills up to 500ml.

The beauty of yerba mate loose leaf is that it can be brewed both hot and cold.

The ideal temperature at which Yerba Mate can be brewed hot is somewhere around 80 degree Celsius. This is somewhere off the boil. A common way to understand your mate water is to put it off the stove when fish eyes kind of water droplets start appearing at the bottom of the vessel. This is where your mate water is ready to be poured over the loose leaf.

As for the cold or terere brew you can load it with ice. But make sure you wait for around 25/30 seconds before you sip as yerba mate loose leaf may take a bit longer to brew cold.

Ideally you can use your mate brew for refills up until the loose leaf flavor is completely washed out. This can range from 500ml to 1.5litres depending on how much yerba mate you use.

Well if you wish to cold brew mate, the best way to do so is fill in around 15-20grams of mate in a one litre water bottle and refrigerate it overnight. Seep the concoction in the morning and you have a a nice bottle of cold brewed mate to take on your day.

YES! You can also brew yerba mate in a French press. Use around 30 grams of yerba mate and this should give you around 3 presses in a 500 ml French press. Note – All presses might vary in potency as with each press you essentially was out the yerba mate loose leaf.

If you wish to brew mate like normal tea. You can use around 3-4 tea spoons for a couple of cups.

Yes you can wash the wooden cup. A soft wash from inside should do the trick ideally but if you wish to clean it from outside just rinse it with water. Avoid scrubbing the wooden cup/gourd with harsh soaps as this may damage the polish.

Ideally you fill your cup of choice half way with yerba mate loose leaf. Our wooden cups, when filled halfway fill upto 10-15grams of yerba mate. If you wish to brew bigger mates you can use a bigger cup of your choice or purchase our Leather gourds that when filled half way would hold around 30 grams of loose leaf yerba.

We do not recommend using milk with yerba mate loose leaf.

Everyone loves a fresh hot brew of mate so the best way to keep your mate water hot is by using the thermos. So either you are home or travelling always keep your thermos by your side for your Mate refills.
